Co-expression Network Sparsification via Effective Resistance
A network systems approach allows for more biologically interpretable and reproducible results when investigating a collection of genes. However, obtaining networks for a given system has proven challenging. Here, I will present an approach that applies spectral graph sparsification methods to sparsify a co-expression network generated from gene sets and transcriptome data.
DATA SCIENCE NIGHTS are monthly talks on data science techniques or applications, organized by Northwestern University graduate students and scholars. Aspiring, beginning, and advanced data scientists are welcome! For more information: http://bit.ly/nico-dsn
